The basic functionality costs nothing, and all the money is in customization

I just read very intresting article at IT Manager’s Journal that highlights seven business strategies for open source. After this I really don?t wonder why Microsoft is thread by Open Source Software. That is really hitting into their core business and I don’t think they have anything to stop where software development is evolving. Though, Even open source presents a large potential competitive advantage for hardware and software vendors, and vendors of complementary or substitute services. I still doubt what would I get by contributing actual open source project by writing the code?

How to remove font tags by using regular expressions

I found article from evolt.org which explains how you can remove font tag by using reg.exp. This is especially good for web designers who fight old HTML code and needs to convert large content pages to XHTML.
Also this can be a nice little feature for WYSIWYG editors, bunch this piece into your c# or php script when users saves document and get rid of extra tags.

XHTML -strict Schema for VS.NET

Another nice little schema which makes Microsoft Visual Studio Web Form templates to XHTML -Strict. This is very nice for people who actually needs those standards instead of hearing marketing bulk from MS how they follow industry standards. (just a days negative comments to MS :) )

If you are good in German and you use FP2003 or VS.NET 2003 check this out.

Phones as status symbol

As a gadget nerd I found very great article over at the Economist.com. This article brings up some interesting points about how youth culture is now using mobile phones instead of cars to define themselves. Less pollution, less traffic…
You find people who customize their phones by buying cool covers and uploading new software. Some are even modding their mobiles by themselves.
Funny how it goes, first it was a horse then came gold-watch and then cars… Now its a mobile. What next? a space shuttle or personal teleporter?
