Semantic web anyone?

I would just love if someone could write once and for all a operating system which would work simultaneously with web. When I would like to participate to a meeting I could just click meeting on webpage and my computer, knowing that it is indeed a form of appointment, will pick up all the right information, and understand it enough to send it to all the right applications. Not to all Microsoft applications but to all devices.

I?am so tired to type calendar events to my Nokia, Outlook at office and Mozilla calendar at home. I have had this exactly same problem years and there hasn?t been any improvments. Actually I think it has got worse than it was few years ago. Few years ago Microsoft was promising in future all devices to work with Windows but today they say that all Microsoft product will work together. :(

Diana just send me really cool link! A webbrowser written in Flash called DENG. DENG is Modular XBrowser Flash MX Component wrapped into a Screenweaver C++ Shell. I just download it and it looks interesting concept. Developers of it have a quite a work if they really planning support CSS2, CSS3 Namespaces, SVG Mobile Profile, XHTML Tiny, XForms, XFrames etc.

Ups, there wont be IE7 at all…

from Mozillazine.org

“Over the last few days, several people have written in with the news that there will be no further standalone versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Future enhancements to the browser will only be delivered in the form of operating system upgrades. The news was confirmed by Internet Explorer Program Manager Brian Countryman in a May 7th online chat discussing the changes made to Internet Explorer for Windows Server 2003. He said: “As part of the OS, IE will continue to evolve, but there will be no future standalone installations. IE6 SP1 is the final standalone installation… Legacy OSes have reached their zenith with the addition of IE 6 SP1. Further improvements to IE will require enhancements to the underlying OS.” The next consumer version of Windows, codenamed Longhorn, is due in 2005.

So does this mean that MS is starting finally closing windows into one big packet. It seems that MS has moved their focus from 3 party developers to managers and end users by providing out of the box packet.
There wont be Internet based wysiwyg enviroment on IE if you want to post publish article on the net buy new windows and office with frontpage.
If I would be 3 party developer I would be worried… Hey wait a minute I’am 3 party developer… damn…

Where is IE7?

I have been waiting for long while new Internet Explorer and today I read from slashdot that it’s not even under development??? IE6 has been here now… how long… at least 2 years but still there is no news about new majour release. However, my default browser hasn’t been IE for long time but Mozilla and now lately I have change Mozilla to Firebird. Mozilla from heavy surfer/webdesigner/javascripter point of view is now days much better than IE6. Therefore I think in future MS might start to loose at least few procent users to mozilla.
I really like firebird I wish MS would come with some innovative like firebird and safari. This brings me to another question.
If MS paid AOL 750 Million dollars to settle the lawsuit in a complicated deal that allows AOL to continue to use Internet Explorer for several years. Why on earth AOL used 4.2 Billion dollars for buying Netscape and then having huge bunch developers working on Netscape and Mozilla but continue to use Internet Explorer? Well, luckily I’m not owning any AOL stocks.
